Chairperson Carpenter opened the hearing on HB2549.
Scott Abbott from Revisors office gave an overview on the bill.
Sean Gatewood testified in support of HB2549 stating the protected income makes a big impact on peoples lives. They would like to request 300%.(Attachment 5)
Karren Weichert testified in support of HB2549 telling about the struggle the PACE program has. A lot of people they deal with are frail and would like to stay at home until the end of life.(Attachment 6)
Mike Burgess testified in support of HB2549 stating that they are half-way toward meeting that "magic number" of 300% of SSI for the PIL. Setting the PIL at 300% of SSI would break down a huge barrier preventing Kansans with disabilities on HCBS waiver from becoming employed.(Attachment 7)

Representative Donohoe made a motion to increase the PIL to 300%. Motion failed.
Chairperson Carpenter closed the hearing on HB2549.
