Allow businesses to elect to file certain business reports with the secretary of state annually, biennially or triennially.

Chairperson Lynn opened deliberations on SB 251 and requested Assistant Revisor Charles Reimer to provide an overview of the bill.
Senator Olson moved, seconded by Senator Holland, to amend the bill. Mr. Reimer reviewed the proposed amendments for the bill. (Attachment 1)
Senator Baumgardner asked if this bill would reduce workload for the Kansas Secretary of State's Office and produce a cost savings. Senator Olson responded he believed there would be cost savings once the new procedure has been implemented. Jennifer Cook, Kansas Secretary of State's Office, said the Office does not anticipate a revenue impact with implementation of the amended bill. The Office is always searching for ways to operate more efficiently.
Senator Alley requested an updated fiscal note be provided if the Committee passes the amended bill.
The motion carried.
Senator Olson moved, seconded by Senator Baumgardner, to pass the bill and to direct the Revisor to make any necessary corrections to SB 251 as amended. The motion carried.
