Revisor Reimer gave an overview of the bill and the revised fiscal note.
Representative Mason moved, seconded by Representative Tarwater, HB2515 be passed.
Representative Ralph moved, seconded by Representative Mason, a substitute motion to amend HB2515. (Attachment 7) Motion passed.
Chairperson Tarwater recognized Tamera Lawrence, Assistant Revisor, Office of Revisor of Statutes, who gave an overview of the amendment. Revisor Lawrence answered questions from Committee members.
Representative Tarwater moved, seconded by Representative Hoffman, to amend HB2515. (Attachment 8)
Representative Williams moved, seconded by Representative Burroughs, a substitute motion to amend regarding the advisory group and reinsert the language as it was before this group was added. The motion passed.
Representative Croft moved, seconded by Representative Frownfelter, to remove the requirement that an individual must graduate from a Kansas public or private secondary school to qualify. The motion passed.
Representative Hoffman moved, seconded by Representative Carpenter, to sunset the provisions of the bill in five years and place an annual cap of $10 million on the scholarship appropriation. The motion passed.
Representative Mason moved, seconded by Representative Hoffman, HB2515 be passed as amended. The motion passed.
