A review of SB334 was given by Jason Thompson explaining that it modifies rules of evidence and procedure related to records and documents.(Attachment 1)
The fiscal note was provided by the Division of the Budget. (Attachment 2)
James Concannon testified as a proponent of SB334 explaining that it is designed to reword Kansas rules of evidence closer to current federal rules of evidence. Kansas rules date from 1963 and were based on the 1953 uniform rules of evidence, which were created before photocopy and digital duplication technology existed. Updating the rules will allow accepting technological reproduction of original documents. (Attachment 3)
