Jason Thompson gave a brief of SB331 explaining this exception to the Open Records Act would allow certain department of corrections and local correctional or detention officers to keep their home addresses or home ownership restricted from public access.(Attachment 5).
There was discussion of the brief.
The Kansas Division of the Budget supplied a Fiscal Note for the bill (Attachment 6)
Krisena Silva testified as a proponent of SB331 reporting that the judicial branch agrees with the bill and would like to have judicial employees added to this exception list. (Attachment 7)
Jeffery Easter testified as a proponent of SB331 explaining that local corrections should have the same protection as other law enforcement officers.(Attachment 8)
There was discussion and then the hearing was closed.
The hearing for SB332 was postponed.
