Proponents
Chairman Proehl recognized Representative Mason. (Attachment 1) Representative Mason said he wanted to offer strong support for the "Proud Educator" distinctive license plate. He said the proceeds from the sale of the plates would provide funding for a support foundation.
The next proponent was Matt Lindsey. (Attachment 2) He said they strongly supported HB2489 and encouraged its passage. He explained the connection with the funding from the "Proud Educator" license plate.
Erica Shook was the next proponent. (Attachment 3) She said the purpose of the KS Educators Support Foundation is to provide resources that support Kansas educators in their continued learning, professional development, instructional practice and classroom needs. Ms. Shook said grants from the proceeds of the plates will be awarded to first-year Kansas teachers for classroom supplies, professional clothing, and professional development as they begin their career.
