Mary Stafford testified in support of the bill. Ms. Stafford is a licensed master social worker who has spent over ten years advocating on behalf of domestic violence survivors in Kansas. She stated this bill will ensure a more fair and equal balance of power within marriages. She stood for questions. (Attachment 4)
Victoria Pickering testified in support of the bill stating her organization sees firsthand the impact that public policy has on our community, in survivors’ experiences as victims of crime, as well as in the societal norms which guide how we respond to sexual violence. Ms. Pickering stood for questions. (Attachment 5)

Chairperson Patton asked the membership to refer to the piece of written testimony in their packets. He closed the hearing on the bill.
The committee leadership suggested in the interest of time and completing tasks would they like to work HB2426 and HB2467. Chairperson Patton asks if anyone was considering an amendment. No one commented. There was a question regarding suspending the 24-hour rule. The membership agreed to move forward.
