Chairperson Kerschen opened the hearing on SB152.
Tamera Lawrence with the Revisor of Statutes Office explained the bill as well as a balloon amendment that was distributed to committee members.
Thomas Stiles explained that the bill was heard in the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resource Committee last year and was amended by the committee to incorporate caps on proposed fees for Underground Injection Control wells, water well drillers, and certified water well drillers and water and waste operators. This amendment carried over into the 2020 session.(Attachment 1)
He then told the committee that in the interim the Kansas Department of Health and Environment worked with several UIC Class 1 operators to draft additional amendments to the existing amended bill.This information is detailed in the balloon amendment distributed to the committee.(Attachment 2)
After a short question and answer period, Chairperson Kerschen closed the hearing on SB152.
