Julie Hein, representing the Kansas Association of Chain Drug Stores (KACDS), provided testimony in support of HB2389. The bill is designed to curb misuse of controlled substances prescriptions. A list of benefits for patients and providers (Attachment 2).
Alexandra Blasi provided testimony for the Kansas State Board of Pharmacy in support of the bill. E-prescription is a more secure method of prescribing controlled substances (Attachment 3).
Ms. Blasi fielded questions from the committee.
Tonya McCain provided testimony for Walmart in support of HB2389. She noted that by requiring Kansas based medical providers to electronically prescribe controlled substances, Kansas can help close the gap and help take fraudulently obtained prescriptions out of circulation (Attachment 4).
