Representative French had a question for the revisor.
Hope Cooper testified in support of HB2337 on behalf of Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC). Ms. Cooper stated the department believes the addition of a community mental health center director or service provider would be an important addition to Community Corrections Advisory Boards. Addressing the mental health and substance abuse issues of offenders are significant aspects in the successful reintegration of offenders under community corrections supervision. (Attachment 1)
Representatives Smith, Carmichael, Weigel, Delperdang, and Jennings had questions and comments.
Dr. Stuart Little testified in support of HB2337 on behalf of Kansas Community Corrections Association. Dr. Little stated the bill shifts the KDOC funding formula for adult community corrections in your communities to a structured and scientifically based formula that accounts for the latest and evolving best practices to guide how the State should wisely invest tax dollars. (Attachment 2)
