Chairperson Kerschen opened the hearing on HB2215.
Tamera Lawrence with the Revisor of Statutes Office distributed a memorandum which she explained.(Attachment 3)
Representative Paul Waggoner spoke in support of the bill. He believes that the bill makes it easier for the Kansas State Fair to receive private gifts, grants and donations to use for the benefit of the Fair. This ability to capture private funds will help the Fair to be successful and is a win for Kansas taxpayers as well. (Attachment 4)
Virginia Crossland-Macha testified in support of the bill. She believes that the opportunity for the Kansas State Fair to attract private money by establishing a foundation has unlimited possibilities. It is the key to remaining relevant in the fast changing world of Kansas agriculture.(Attachment 5) , (Attachment 6)
After some discussion, Chairperson Kerschen closed the hearing on HB2215.
With no other business before the committee, Chairperson Kerschen adjourned the meeting at 9:15.
