Chairperson Patton opened a hearing on SB78.
Natalie Scott provided an overview of SB78. (Attachment 1) She stood for questions.
Marlee Carpenter testified in support of SB78 stating "it put key protections in place that will keep both the homeowner and insurance company is notified of an assignment, that the check for repairs is addressed to both the roofer/contractor and the homeowner . . .". Changing line 16 to read "'perform interior and exterior repair or cleanup would clarify that services' covered under this bill apply to services on both the interior and exterior of the insured property." (Attachment 2) She stood for questions.
Blake Roberts testified in support of SB78 stating "this bill provides a framework for a restricted Assignment of Benefits where contractors, policyholders and insurance companies can work together toward a successful completion of a covered event". (Attachment 3) He stood for questions.
Tony Kimmi testified in support of SB78 stating "the provisions of SB78 are reasonable and necessary to protect Kansas consumers. (Attachment 4) He stood for questions.
