Chairperson Bowers opened final action on SB131. Mike Heim, staff revisor, reviewed the bill. Mr. Heim distributed and explained a balloon amendment requested by the County Clerks. (Attachment 1) Mr. Heim distributed and explained a balloon amendment requested by Senator Olson. (Attachment 2)
Senator Hardy moved, Senator Braun seconded, to adopt the proposed amendment that includes the word "date." Motion carried.
Mr. Heim indicated if the bill is adopted, the language of the previous amendment solves Senator Olson's amendment. Chairman Bowers asked Josh McGinn, Kansas County Clerks and Election Officials Association (KCCEOA) to comment. Mr. McGinn indicated he believes the first amendment would solve Senator Olson's concern.
Senator Hardy moved, Senator Braun seconded, to recommend SB131 as amended, favorably for passage. Motion carried.
