The hearing for HB2353, providing for free license plates for purple hear recipients opened with Assistant Revisor, Jenna Moyer, presenting an overview of the bill. HB2353 amends K.S.A. 8-1,140 to allow recipients of a purple heart medal to receive one free, non-transferable license plate to be displayed on such person's vehicle.(Attachment 6) Applicant must have satisfactory proof that such person was awarded a purple heart medal by the United States government. Motion to suspend the rules was withdrawn subsequent to discussion that a fiscal note should be provided for review prior to voting. The hearing on HB2353 was closed by the Chair.
