Mack Smith presented testimony supporting the bill that would eliminate delays in the cremation process. He also supports the use of electronic signature on the coroner's permit (Attachment 5).
Pam Scott provided information that clarified issues that have arisen in the past. Section 2 would amend Kansas statute regarding cremation permits when deaths occur outside the state of Kansas. This particularly applies to the Kansas City Metro area. The bill also allows for electronically signed death certificates. Lastly, the bill would eliminate the need for funeral home directors to file monthly reports for bodies prepared for burial (Attachment 6).
