Staff explained the bill. Chairman Proehl recognized Steven J. Titus as the proponent for this bill. (Attachment 3) According to Mr. Titus, this bill would update existing railroad crossing laws pertaining to motorist responsibilities at railroad crossings. The circumstances under which such a stop would be required are the same as those for which a stop is required for a railroad train under current law. Mr. Titus said similar legislation has already passed in 19 other states. The Chairman asked if there were other proponents, neutrals or opponents. There were none so after all questions were answered the Chairman closed the hearing on HB2225 and called for Final Action on HB2179.
