Chairman Proehl called for Final Action on HB2126. Staff explained the bill and discussed a technical amendment needed which was to strike Sec. 5. because this section has the opposite effect of what this bill is intended to do. (Attachment 12) Representative Thimesch moved to strike section 5, seconded by Representative Helgerson. Motion carried. Back on the bill as amended. Representative Awerkamp Moved an amendment to allow the electric-assisted scooters and make them follow existing rules that bicycles and electric-assisted bicycles have to follow. (Attachment 13) The amendment also allows cities and counties to regulate the use of e-scooters further, and reduces the fine from $75 to $45. The Motion was seconded by Representative Pittman. Further discussion. Motion carried. Back on the bill as amended. Representative Thimesch moved to pass HB2126, as amended, seconded by Representative Cox. Motion carried.
