Ernie Minton, Interim Dean of the College of Agriculture and Interim Director of K-State Research and Extension, presented testimony as a proponent of the bill (Attachment 4). This bill would authorize the sale of the 80 acre Pecan Experimental Field in Chetopa, Kansas, due to the retirement and lack of research staff, and a small parcel of 4.4 acres in the North Campus Corridor in Riley County, which would bring business and industry partners in the area of animal health, infectious disease and food and nutrition related issues. In response to questions from committee members, he stated that an appraisal has not been conducted for any of the property. It was noted that any clerical changes or change to the amount would need to made to the bill. He stated that if the 45 of the 80 acres were not used for research, this would revert back to the heirs, as was the stipulation with the gift.
Chairman Waymaster closed the hearing on the bill.
