Requiring at least nine safety drills to be conducted by schools each year including fire, tornado and crisis drills.

Tamera Lawrence, Office of Revisors of Statute, gave an overview of SB128. Ms. Lawrence reminded the committee that the original hearing was held on February 11, 2019.
Chairperson Baumgardner provided a balloon amendment and noted the revisors changed just a small grammatical error and the month of tornado drills to the month of March. (Attachment 5)
Senator Braun moved, Vice-Chairperson Alley seconded, to adopt the proposed balloon amendment. Motion passed.
Senator Alley noted that all his districts have expressed thanks for changing the drills, so he is in favor of the bill.
Vice-Chairperson Alley moved, Senator Givens seconded, to recommend SB 128 as amended favorably for passage. Motion passed.
Chairperson Baumgardner adjourned the meeting at 2:27 p.m.
