Chairman Olson opened the hearing on the bill and he called for a Statute of Revisors review of the bill. Eileen Ma provided the overview.
Proponent Sheriff Ken McGovern explained that the bill proposes to allow local counties the option of placing detention deputies/correction officers/jailers into the KP&F retirement system which would allow them to have the same retirement benefits as commissioned deputies. (Attachment 2)
During committee questions and comments it was pointed out that the bill's fiscal note indicated that passage of the bill would require significant incremental expenditures not reflected in The FY 2020 Governor's Budget Report.
Seeing no more testimony Chairman Olson closed the hearing on the bill.
