Tamera Lawrence gave an overview of SB71. The bill makes two changes. It reauthorizes the Post Secondary Technical Education Authority (TEA) by repealing the current sunset provision and requires an annual report to the Legislature.
Dr. Flanders provided proponent testimony on behalf of the Kansas Board of Regents stating the removal of the sunset date will result in the continuation of current and new efforts in support of career and technical education programs. (Attachment 2)
Chairperson Baumgardner noted that the fiscal note indicated there is no anticipated increase in cost.
There were no questions from committee members.
