Staff briefed the Committee on the bill and answered questions.
The Chairman recognized Representative Mark Schreiber who introduced Peyton Madden. Peyton was diagnosed with Xeroderma Pigmentosum when he was three. (Attachment 1) He now lives in a 100% UV free environment. Peyton showed the Committee his transparent visor and hat, jacket and other protective gear he wears to protect himself. Peyton's mother, Sarah, explained how important this bill is to Peyton and others with skin cancer. She said this bill amends the current Kansas window film legislation to allow individuals who suffer from sun sensitivity caused by medical condition to safely modify their motor vehicle, so they are not exposed to dangerous ultraviolet A or B rays. After all questions were answered the Chairman asked if there were any other proponents, neutrals or opponents. There were none.
