Chairperson Longbine convened a Meeting at the Rail of the Senate. He opened the meeting by reminding the members that the Committee had delayed final action on SB553 on March 20, 2024, to allow the interested parties more time to work toward an agreement on an amendment to the bill. The Chairperson announced that the parties, including health services, hospitals, and insurance companies had reached agreement regarding prior authorizations as set forth in the attached amendment, which will become effective on January 1, 2028 as part of and supplemental to the utilization review organization act. (Attachment 1)
Senator Pittman moved, seconded by Senator Fagg, to adopt the amendment to SB553. Chairperson Longbine asked for any discussion or questions. There were none. The motion to adopt carried.
The Chairperson asked for discussion or questions. There were none. Senator Fagg moved, seconded by Senator Dietrich, to recommend SB553, as amended, favorable for passage. The motion carried.
There being no other business for the Committee, the Meeting at the Rail adjourned at 11:25 am. There are no other meetings scheduled for Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee for the remainder of the 2024 Session.
