Revisor Jill Wolters briefed the committee on SB481. She stood for questions.(Attachment1)
Alysia Starkey, Kansas State University testified before the committee, via WEB-EX, in support of SB481 .This bill renames Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus as Kansas State University-Salina. She confirmed the dash will be included in the new name. She stood for questions.(Attachment2)
Representative Howe asked the audience if there were any opponents or neutrals that wanted to testify. None came forward.
Representative Howe closed the hearing on SB481 at 1:44 pm.
Representative Howe moved to suspend rules and consider SB481. Vice Chair Clarke Sanders seconded the motion.The motion passed.
Ranking Minority Member, Brandon Woodard asked if the chair would consider a substitute motion to place the bill on the consent calendar, Representative Howe move to consider SB481 favorably for passage and place on the consent calendar for the committee of the whole. The motion was seconded by Representative Mike Amyx. The motion passed.
Representative Mike Amyx moved, Representative Sanders seconded, approval of the committee minutes from January 25 and 31, 2024. Motion carried.
Representative Howe adjourned the meeting at 1:50 pm.
