Chairperson Billinger opened the hearing on HB 2623. David Wiese, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 3)
Eric Rohleder, Deputy Director of the KCVAO, spoke in support of the bill that would address minor changes to the Veterans Claims Assistance Program (VCAP). This change would provide the KCVAO and VCAP partners flexibility to work with a wider audience of accredited and approved training organizations and would allow VCAP partners to occupy spaces in the federal medical centers or the new regional office. This change has been coordinated with the American Legion, the VFW and other stakeholders who have supported the change. Mr. Rohleder responded to questions from Committee members. (Attachment 4)
