Revisor Jason Long gave a brief overview of the bill (Attachment 1). He explained that this bill would repeal the expiration provisions of the Sedgwick county urban area nuisance abatement act.

Chris Labrum, Director of the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department testified as proponent for the bill Attachment 2).  He explained that the Wichita-Sedgwich County Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department seek only to retain the reasonable authorization of power to clean up dangerous nuisance properties that impact the health and safety of neighbors on a day-to-day basis. (Attachment 3) He showed some case examples.

The following person provided written only testimony as an opponent for the bill.

Chairman Bergquist closed the hearing on SB362.

Representative Blex moved, seconded by Representative Featherston to approve the minutes dated 2/14/2024, 2/19/2024, and 2/20/2024.  Motion carried.
