Chairperson Longbine greeted members, staff, and guests. He recognized Senator Dietrich, who introduced Burke Harsin from Washburn Rural High School, and Athan Smith, from Topeka West High School, who were acting as Pages today. It was noted that Tamera Lawrence, Sr. Assistant Revisor, Revisor of Statutes Office, attended the meeting virtually via Webex.
Chairperson Longbine opened the hearing on HB2530.
Eileen Ma, Assistant Revisor, Revisor of Statutes Office (ROS), presented the Revisor's Memorandum brief and stood for questions. There were none. (Attachment 1)
Eric Turek, Director of Government and Public Affairs, Kansas Insurance Department (KID), provided oral proponent testimony on this bill requested by Mr. Turek, on behalf of Vicki Schmidt, Insurance Commissioner. (Attachment 2) Mr. Turek answered a question from Senator Gossage regarding the amendment made by the House. He replied that KID considered it a friendly amendment.
Seeing no other questions, comments, or discussion, and there being no other proponent, opponent, or neutral testimony submitted at this time, Chairperson Longbine closed the hearing on HB2530, and pointed the committee's attention to HB2531.
