Minutes for SB399 - Committee on Transportation
Short Title
Requiring vehicle dealers and salvage vehicle dealers to file monthly reports by the 25th day of the month.
Minutes Content for Wed, Feb 14, 2024
The Chair opened the hearing on SB399.
Mr. Siebers explained that the bill moves the date when monthly reports are due to the Division of Vehicles from the current 20th day of the month to the 25th day of the month (Attachment 7).
Elaine Bowers, Senate District 36, introduced her guests from Mitchell County and then testified as a proponent for the bill (Attachment 8). As one of 2340 active vehicle dealers in Kansas, she said current state law requires a dealer to submit a monthly report on vehicle sales on the 20th and submit another report on sales tax on the 25th. She said the bill would simplify these requirements and would not disrupt any process of the Kansas Department of Revenue.
Don McNeely, President, Kansas Automobile Dealers Association, provided written-only proponent testimony (Attachment 9).
The Chair closed the hearing.
The Chair adjourned the meeting at 8:50 a.m.
