Charles Bradley, Kansas Department of Revenue attorney, gave testimony supporting the bill because the amended definitions ( of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV), of "leaving the scene of an accident" and "gross weight) would clarify what violations should be considered in a commercial driver's license (CDL) (Attachment 5)
Technical Trooper Nick Wright, on behalf of Colonel Erik Smith, Kansas Highway Patrol, gave testimony supporting HB2681 that would update the definition of a commercial motor vehicle and would enhance uniformity of language in definition to match federal regulation.(Attachment 6)
Mike Hoeme, director of transportation, spoke on behalf of the staff of the Kansas Corporation Commission, in support of the bill as it would provide consistency between state and federal regulations of motor carrier safety laws. (Attachment 7)
Officer Matt Misemer, Olathe Police Department, provided the committee with written only testimony. (Attachment 8)
