The Chair opened the hearing on HB2533, a bill requiring that insurance examiner per diem amounts and expenses, outside consulting and data processing fees and pro-rata funding or examination equipment and software be reasonable; establishing a tiered fee structure for examination of insurance companies and societies. Assistant Revisor, Ma, gave a brief overview of the bill and stood for questions. Proponent testimony for HB2533 was given by
- Eric Turek, Director of Government and Public Affairs, Kansas Insurance Department (Attachment 9), and
- Marlee Carpenter, Kansas Association of Property and Casualty Insurance Companies. (Attachment 10) All conferees stood for questions.
Of particular concern to certain committee members was the use of the word "reasonable" when referencing specific fees. There were no opponent or neutral testimony to be heard. The Chair closed the hearing on HB2533.
