Chairperson Longbine opened the hearing on SB338. Eileen Ma, Assistant Revisor, Office of the Kansas Revisor of Statutes (ROS) presented the Revisor's Memorandum Brief and stood for questions. There were none. (Attachment 1)
Eric Turek, Director of Government and Public Affairs, Kansas Insurance Department, was the only proponent for this bill requested by the Kansas Insurance Department (KID). Mr. Turek indicated that after consulting with the group-funded pools that are the subject of this bill, KID ascertained that their statutory reporting period should be extended. Additionally, they determined that a notification was not necessary when group-funded workers compensation pool members leave the pool, and they sought to eliminate this statutory notification requirement. (Attachment 2) Mr. Turek answered questions from Senators Pittman and Fagg.
Seeing no other questions, and there being no other proponent, opponent, or neutral testimony submitted, Chairperson Longbine closed the hearing on SB338.
