The Revisor gave an overview of the bill. (Attachment 1)
Dr. JuliAnn Mazachek, President, Washburn University, supports this bill. The Washburn University Board of Regents comprises nine members appointed by the Governor, Mayor, County Commission or the Kansas Board of Regents. The State Senate Reapportionment approved by the Legislature last year created a fourth Senate District containing a portion of the city of Topeka. This caused the need to adjust how the Mayor appoints future Washburn Regents. This bill amends the statute. (Attachment 2)
