Mr. Siebers provided an overview on HB2416 that provides a sales tax exemption for a not-for-profit corporation operating as Area Agency on Aging for coordinating and providing seniors and those living with disabilities with services that promote person-centered care. The sales tax exemption would be for purchases of tangible property and services made by the area agency on aging; sales made by the area agency on aging; and sales of tangible property and services purchased by a contractor for the purpose of construction materials, equipment by a contractor for facilities for area agency on aging. HB2306 would provide a sales tax exemption for purchases of property and services by the Kansas Suicide Prevention HQ, Inc. Mr. Siebers stood for questions from Committee members.
Representative Eplee moved, seconded by Representative Helgerson, the Committee recommend HB2416 favorable for passage.
Representative Turner moved, seconded by Representative Bergkamp, to amend HB2416. (Attachment 2)
Committee discussion ensued.
Representative Turner closed on his amendment for HB2416. Motion passed.
Representative Sanders made a conceptual motion, seconded by Representative Francis, to insert the contents of HB2306 into HB2416. Motion passed.
Representative Eplee renewed his motion to recommend HB2416 favorable for passage as amended. Motion passed.
