Chairperson Smith opened the discussion on HB2232.
Adam Siebers, Revisor, provided an overview on HB2232 that will allow courses related to the administration of the assessment and tax laws of the state to be developed by the Department of Revenue's Director of Property Valuation.
Committee discussion ensued.
Representative Helgerson moved, seconded by Representative Eplee, the Committee recommend HB2232 favorable for passage.
Representative Haswood moved, seconded by Representative Sawyer, to amend HB2232.(Attachment 1)

David Harper, Division of Property Management, KDOR, noted when this bill originated part of the intent was to eliminate some courses provided by outside appraisal organizations for approval and move those under the Kansas Real Estate Appraisal Board, noting the concern is it could raise a case for opposition.
Representative Haswood closed on her amendment for HB2232. Motion failed.
Representative Helgerson renewed his motion to recommend HB2232 be passed. Motion passed.
