Jenna Moyer, Staff Revisor gave an overview of the bill.

Lacey Hunter gave proponent testimony for HB2408. She stated that HB2408 would settle long-standing differing of interpretation and interplay between statutes and regulations between the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services and the Kansas Board of Cosmetology. The proposed change reduces government regulations by clarifying the beauty and barber shop area of adult care homes, long term care homes, and long term care units of hospitals which would be exempt from the Statutes of the Board of Cosmetology and the Board of Barbering. (Attachment 3)

Rachel Monger testified in support of HB2408. She asked the committee to vote yes for the bill and to clarify once and for all that adult care homes are not required to have licensed salons in their buildings. (Attachment 4)
