Chairperson Francis opened the hearing on SB106.
Chris Waggoner, Office of Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill and addressed questions from the committee. (Attachment 1)
Craig Orlan, Director of State and Local Government Affairs, American Honda Motor Company, Inc. provided testimony in support of the bill stating that while counterfeit parts are not new to the industry, automakers have seen a dramatic rise in the number of counterfeit and otherwise “nonfunctional” critical safety components entering the marketplace in recent years. He further explained how there are a number of physical tells and other red flags that are obvious to sellers and repair professionals while being unrecognizable to consumers. (Attachment 2)
Mr. Orlan addressed questions from the committee.
