Chairperson Waymaster opened the hearing on HB2277.
Revisor Jill Wolters provided information about HB2277. This bill authorizes the monetary award to go up to $10,000 from $3,500, and makes no modification to the employee suggestion program. The bill expands the award program to authorize an appointing authority to grant a hiring, recruitment, or retention bonus. The bill repeals the authority for the Department of Administration to adopt rules or regulations and clarifies the Secretary of Administration has oversight of the executive branch, agency or appointed councils or commissions only. The two references to the IRS code are stricken from the bill, because those procedures in federal code would not allow for the new bill provisions going forward. (Attachment 1)
Revisor Wolters stood for questions.
