the Hunter Education In Our Schools Program. The Chairman called for discussion and final action on SB116.
Jason Long, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, gave an overview of the bill. He stated SB116 would require the State Board of Education to establish curriculum guidelines for a standardized firearm safety education program. The bill would require the guidelines to be based on existing programs, specifically the Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program offered by the National Rifle Association, and the Hunter Education In Our Schools Program.
The Chairman called for questions and discussion on the bill.
Following discussion, the Chairman entertained a motion on SB116.
Senator Blasi moved, and Senator Petersen seconded, to recommend SB116 favorably for passage.
Senator Holscher moved the bill be tabled. Seconded by Faust-Goudeau. Motion failed.
Back on the motion to recommend the bill favorably for passage. Motion carried.
