Short Title
Requiring the secretary of revenue to file release of tax warrants in the county where the warrant is docketed after payment of taxes owed.

Mr. Siebers provided an overview for HB2026 stating the bill would require the Secretary of Revenue to file a release of a tax warrant in the county where such warrant is docketed upon full payment by the taxpayer of the taxed owed including the interest penalty and fees required for the filing and the release or satisfaction of the warrant.
Chairperson Smith stated HB2026 is now on the table before the Committee and requested if there were any amendments or discussion on the bill.
Chairperson Smith presented an amendment requested by the Department of Revenue to insert an implementation date of January 1, 2024 to give the Revenue Department time to coordinate with the courts, deadlines and all items that are required.
Chairperson Smith moved, seconded by Representative Helgerson, to amend HB2026. (Attachment 6)
Chairperson Smith closed on his amendment for HB2026. Motion passed.
Representative Hoheisel moved, seconded by Representative Sawyer, to recommend HB2026 be passed as amended. Motion passed.
Chairperson Smith stated the Committee will take possible action on the following bills the week of February 6, 2023:
Wednesday, HB2202 concerning permanent funding for the revenue neutral notifications.
Thursday, HB2066 concerning volunteer EMS and firefighters vehicle property tax exemption.
Chairperson Smith adjourned the meeting at 4:00 p.m.
