Minutes for HB2034 - Committee on Child Welfare and Foster Care

Short Title

Requiring a referral of an alleged victim of child abuse or neglect for an examination as part of an investigation, creating a program in the department of health and environment to provide training and payment for such examinations.

The hearing on HB2034 was opened by the Chair.  Jessie Pringle, Office of Revisor, provided and overview of the bill and stood for questions.(Attachment 1) Doctors Jennifer Hansen and Emily Killough, Kansas Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics, representing more than 450 practicing participants in the state supports this bill which creates the CARE Provider Network.  Additionally, the Kansas Chapter American Academy of Pediatrics has been collaborating with the Kansas Department Health and Environment, and the Department of Children and Families to move the CARE Provider Network forward.  Accomplishments will include the creation of the CARE Network; creation of a statewide referral system and payment system through Kansas Department Health and Environment. (Attachment 2). The conferees stood for questions.

There were no opponents present.  The hearing on HB2034 was closed by the Chair at 3:00 PM,
