SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON
HOUSE BILL NO. 2304

HB 2304 amends the Wage Payment Act
to do the following:
- Eliminate the distinction between
claims that are less than $10,000 from those that are more than
$10,000;
- Eliminate the $10,000 cap on
mandatory collections;
- Prohibit the Kansas Department of
Human Resources (KDHR) from accepting a collection assignment from
a wage claimant until the wage claim order is final and all appeals
are exhausted;
- Eliminate the requirement that the
wage claimant pay an assignment fee of $25 per claim;
and
- Allow KDHR to cease collection
efforts if the debt is uncollectible, the claim cannot be collected
at reasonable cost, or the claimant does not cooperate in
reasonable efforts to collect the claim.

calendar.
