Brief (1)



HB 2207 expands the list of activities that constitute common nuisances to include felony activity by criminal street gangs. Criminal street gangs means a group of three or more persons whose primary activities constitute the commission of person felonies or felony illegal drug activities. The prohibited illegal activities by gang members also includes attempted commission, conspiracy to commit, or solicitation of two or more person felonies or felony violation of the Controlled Substances Act or similar offenses from another jurisdiction.

The sponsor of the bill appeared in support of the measure. A similar bill, HB 2775, was proposed during the 2000 Legislative Session.
