Brief (1)
HB 2106 amends KSA 48-225 and eliminates the method currently used to determine compensation for individuals in the Kansas National Guard serving on State Active Duty. The bill would allow the Adjutant General to set the rate of pay and allowance. The bill stipulates that the minimum amount of such pay and allowance may not be less than the amount received by an individual in the pay grade of E-6 with six years of credited military service.
Background
The Adjutant General testified in support of the bill, and described the current compensation method as complicated. He indicated that the bill would provide some administrative savings, and would minimize errors incurred in calculating State Active Duty compensation.
