Brief (1)
HB 2015, as amended, exempts certain entities from licensure as child care facilities. The bill exempts from licensure as a child care facility:
Background
HB 2015 was introduced by the Legislative Educational Planning Committee at the request of Washburn University in order to exempt public postsecondary educational institutions from the child care facility licensure requirement for the purpose of operating a summer camp on campus. The House Committee on Health and Human Services amended the bill to extend the exemption to summer instructional camps operated by not-for-profit independent institutions of higher education accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools accrediting agency. House Committee amendments also would further define the types of camps to be exempt and would make the bill effective upon publication in the Kansas Register.
The Senate Education Committee amended the bill to correct a grammatical error.
