Brief ⁽¹⁾

SB 212 amends one of the statutes in the Dental Practices Act that prohibits dentists from practicing under the name of any company, association, corporation, clinic, trade name, or business. The amendment deletes the existing prohibitory language and adds new language authorizing the use of such names in connection with dental practice. The name may not misrepresent the dentist to the public.

The Committee recommends the bill be placed on the Consent Calendar.

Background

SB 212 was requested by the Kansas Dental Association. Spokespersons for the Association and the Dental Board spoke in support of the bill. No one opposed the bill.

The fiscal note on SB 212 indicates passage would have no fiscal effect on the Dental Board.
