SB 159 makes a number of technical amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure for Limited Actions. The bill also provides that the Kansas Supreme Court shall adopt rules or orders to govern the form of pleadings of other documents to be filed under this Code.
The Senate Committee struck the appendix of forms (pages 14-90) that had been included as part of the bill.
Background
The bill was requested by the Kansas Judicial Council as a needed cleanup of 2000 recodification of the Limited Actions Code. The Kansas Bar Association suggested the appendix of forms be deleted from the bill since the Kansas Supreme Court had already approved the forms prepared by the Kansas Judicial Council in an administrative order (No. 159) adopted on December 20, 2000.
