SB 57, as amended, authorizes expenditures from the State General Fund and various special revenue funds for the payment of specific claims against the State of Kansas. Agencies affected by the bill include: the Department of Revenue; the Board of Cosmetology; the Department of Human Resources; the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services; the Board of Examiners in Optometry; the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board; the Kansas State Fair; the Department of Administration; the Department of Corrections; Topeka Correctional Facility; El Dorado Correctional Facility; and Lansing Correctional Facility.
Background
The Senate Committee amended the bill to add three additional motor vehicle fuel tax refunds, and a claim authorizing the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services to pay a claim for dental services rendered. The Senate Committee also deleted section 11(a) of the bill which authorized the Department of Corrections to pay a claim of $2,160 to the Coffey County Sheriff's Department for costs incurred in housing an inmate beyond the statutory time period.
The House Committee amended the bill in three ways: shifted a claim against the Department of Revenue in section 6 of the bill from a State General Fund account to the Department's Motor Carrier Tax Refund Fund; shifted a new State General Fund appropriation contained in section 10 of the bill to an existing State General Fund account of the Department of Administration; and restored a claim in section 11(a) of the bill which authorized the Department of Corrections to pay a claim of $2,160 to the Coffey County Sheriff's Department for costs incurred in housing an inmate beyond the statutory time period.
The bill, as amended by the House Committee, authorizes total expenditures of $278,237, which includes $48,158 from operating accounts of the State General Fund, and $230,079 from other sources.
