SESSION OF 2000

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON HOUSE BILL NO. 2858

As Recommended by House Committee on

Appropriations

Brief (1)

HB 2858 allows the Department of Wildlife and Parks to exceed expenditure limitations on the Wildlife Fee Fund, Boating Fee Fund, and Parks Fee Fund in order to adjust expenditures. Wildlife Fee Funds may only be spent for wildlife and fisheries programs and HB 2858 places into statute the authority of the agency to exceed limitations when required to correct for potential diversionary uses of the Wildlife Fee Fund.

Background

HB 2858 was introduced by the House Committee on Appropriations and the Department of Wildlife and Parks testified in favor of the bill. Since FY 1995, the Department of Wildlife and Parks has been given annual authority in the appropriations bills to exceed expenditure limitations in the three funds to avoid diversion of the use of the Wildlife Fee Fund. The bill has no fiscal impact.
