Brief (1)
HB 2795 would enact the "Teaching Technology Act of 2000" and would require teacher education institutions approved by the State Board of Education to ensure that graduates are trained to understand the latest technology and how to use it in classroom teaching.
Background
HB 2795 is one of the education reform bills introduced by Representatives Tanner and Glasscock. The bill would apply to Regents universities and independent colleges and universities that are approved by the State Board of Education to offer teacher education programs.
According to the State Department of Education, the State Board already requires that approved teacher education programs integrate technology into the education curriculum. The State Department estimates that there would be no fiscal impact associated with passage of the bill.
