Brief (1)



HB 2659 would amend the law with respect to public wholesale water supply districts to allow those districts to provide services, pursuant to contract, to participating public agencies. The bill would permit the districts to provide for the construction, installation, and operation of pipelines, wells, pumping stations, and other facilities and services relating to the distribution of water within the boundaries of the participating public agencies or retail distribution and utilization of water. In addition, the districts could own and hold real estate and personal property necessary to carry out these functions.

A representative of the Kansas Rural Water Association appeared in support of the bill. No other conferees appeared on the bill.



The fiscal note on the bill indicates that the Water Office indicated there was no fiscal impact.
